Background
“2100: A Speculation of Man in Space” is a speculative design aimed to critique the notion of space tourism and the commercialization of outer space.
About the project

“2100: A Speculation of Man in Space” is a speculative design

In a future where humans have resorted to intravenous meals (from lack of “real” food due to global warming and climate change here on Earth) and where the space tourism industry is booming, fast food culture has finally infiltrated its way into outer space in the form of injectable Big Mac’s and Happy Meal’s.

This speculative design and interactive installation work to provoke viewers and facilitate critical dialogues and conversations around not only space tourism, but also around the idea of global culture and capitalism, as well as sustainability. What will our relationship with food be like? (especially when growing food is no longer an option) Is the growing interest in space tourism a good thing?

Is it problematic that a single fast-food chain has the ability to make such a significant impact on our global cultural landscape?
