About the project
One in four pregnancies end in a miscarriage. But even though miscarriage is common it can be emotionally difficult and isolating. In conversations with mothers, who recently experienced a miscarriage, I saw their need to express grief and share it with others.
The personal memory box is handed out by the gynecologist while giving the diagnosis of a miscarriage. The content of the box is co-created with midwives and mothers in grief, responding to the different stages of grief, with options to personalize it. As a physical box, it allows parents to decide how and when they want to remember their unborn child, while keeping it visible as a part of the family story.
