About the project

How might we introduce Food Reformers with playful communication to potential volunteers such that it informs them about the Food Reformers community?

The Food Reformers are a community working towards sustainability with a large knowledge base around food and food waste and explore fun ways to talk about it while working together as a diverse team of internationals.

For a group of people doing so much, my project aims to share a taste of what they do through this ‘Takeaway.’ It is made up of 5 elements - An activity card that introduces them in a fun way, a couple of stickers with fun facts from their research, a coupon to attend a meeting attached with other sustainable activities in Kolding, a recipe to try out and a bookmark reinforcing their values.

It is a low commitment information kit to share with potential volunteers that also ties in with their values - Community, Sustainability, Knowledge, Food, Fun & Diversity.

The steps to arrive at the outcome intended to be particpatory, empathetic and leading to the co-creation of a suitable outcome that could be carried forward even without the designer. The research workshops included reflection - a dining format 'Thought for Food' workshop, ideation - designing a Recipe and content - Filling in the blanks for the overall look and feel.

Through the seven weeks of engagement, it also became clear that the format of the design should also reflect the values of Food Reformers, resulting in a standard A4, that can be printed on easily to give the different elements of the outcome, waste newspapers to create the pockets, bringing all the elements of this Takeaway together.
