About the project
Making private space public is a project created during the first Covid-19 lockdown. The brief was to identify social frictions within public spaces. I set out to explore how people react to having to share their private homes with people they never intended to by creating a façade they could use instead.
I created a series of tangible backgrounds one can use for video calls. The backgrounds were developed for different scenarios like talking to your boss or old school friends.
The idea is that you don’t have to show your home but instead can impress everyone with your picture-perfect background displaying all your achievements.
Due to limited resources, I started prototyping with the materials I had available and then chose to stick with them as they highlight the critical character of my project
