About the project

We collaborated with Aarhus Municipality about the urban area called Bispehaven. We engaged with people in Bispehaven in different ways to learn about their thoughts about living there. For instance we interviewed people, used cultural probes, and did a workshop. We learned that Bispehaven is an extremely culturally diverse place but none of these cultures seems to be celebrated or represented within the area. People of different nationalities seldom mixed or spent time with each other which is a pity.

Still, there is one thing that brings everybody together: Food.

We decided to focus on food and how preparing and eating food could help building bridges between cultures. After collecting recipes and stories from local residents, we created The Taste of Bispehaven: a collection of objects that celebrate the diversity in the area and encourage conversation between people of different cultural backgrounds. The collection includes a cookbook, cooking cards, a visual identity toolkit, a festival roadmap and a research booklet. Have a look at our video that shows more details of the process and the outcome.
