Restoring the Unseen is a design project concerned with the value of everyday objects. We live in a disposable society in which objects can be disposed of, even if they are still functional. Once they have been replaced, they fall into oblivion. As a result, we have asked ourselves why we should add a new product into this cycle instead of restoring the value of existing objects. As a consequence, we decided only to use already disposed of materials from landfill. The final outcome is a series of objects, framed in a fictional future.

Imagine... a very close future.

Scandinavian countries find themselves in a trade war with the western world - borders are shut. Both import and export are banned for the time being. As a result - production is limited and citizens have to rely on what they own and what is available in Scandinavia.!

Objects and tools of everyday use have turned into luxury objects people take care of a lot. The economic and social narrative has changed - from fast mass production concluding easy and fast dispose of belongings for newer versions, now the focus lies on maintenance, durability, recycling and creativity. Production now has to rely on something there’s plenty of… the waste of previous generations. This takes effect on individuals as well. !
