What

Having as a starting point the increase of garment’s longevity during the use phase, the project focused on how repair and which repair strategies fit the values and aesthetics of the brand while considering the needs of the main consumer of NN07. The aim is to inspire the customer to have a better consumption culture, while exploring how NN07 can facilitate change towards responsible consumption.

Why

Repair as an ethical and environmentally conscious solution that can play a positive role in production by reducing energy, raw material and water consumption. An artisanal practice that can react against the throwaway culture, repairing damaged garments and textiles is an opportunity to rethink the relationship with everyday objects. While the manufacture of that item can’t be undone, repair can make sure that those resources aren’t wasted. Repair can represent a non-extractive method since it can be done with materials found in people’s immediate surroundings.

How

The recare book:

“Second Chances,” serves as a reference guide for men seeking to breath new life into their broken, worn-out, or unused clothing. This is focused on a network of tailors that would use the book as a reference but could also be used by men as diy. Each page shows a sample of how the clothes could be repaired, followed by information about it; composition, craft, tools, application, level. The book consists of three levels of difficulty from easy repairs to full pattern customization. We propose that the book would be available on the website and physically in stores.
