Knit

The Knit Studio is a studio for you who work with textile or clothing design and want to improve your skills in knitting.

Knit Studio

Here you can work with knitted constructions in materials and surfaces or three-dimensional form for space and body. You will work with textures, patterns, and surfaces, where composition, colour and material inform your design, e.g. through sketching directly in the materials on the machine. This is where you develop your skills in hand-manipulated effects and gain insight into preparing files for digital knitting, while also gaining hands-on experience in applying the design methods and theories you continually acquire to your own design process, from idea to finished knitted series or product.

You can use the Knit Studio in all phases of the design process, from early tests of materials and colours, through sketching processes directly in the material to the creation of finished knit designs very similar to industrially manufactured products.

The Knit Studio has access to a large stock of yarn from all over the world and thus gives you the best conditions for researching and experimenting with different types of materials. The studio is equipped with analogue Silverreed machines and industrial flat knitting machines with varying gauge, as well as two digital Stoll knitting machines, CMS 303 and 530 with associated M1plus for programming. There is also access to a jersey overlocker, as well as a kettle machine for finishing shaped knitted elements.
