A new classic. This is one of the complimentary descriptions of Christian Troels’ lamp, Mutatio, which has just won the Best Lamp of the Year Award at Design Award 2014.

"Mutatio is a beautiful piece of design. It plays with transformation and geometry and its slender design makes it suitable even for tight spaces", the jury said. "Refreshing to see a launch from Le Klint which is not folded. A new classic which honours the Danish Design tradition but still looks like nothing we have seen before."

The lamp builds on Christian Troels' MA project from Design School Kolding in 2012. Then Christian Troels said:

- My MA project is a series of lamps inspired by transformation and simple geometry. When the lamps are closed, they look anonymous but as soon as they are opened, an exciting and characteristic expression is revealed.

Since 2012, Christian Troels has worked on the project together with Le Klint. Now their work has received the recognition of a jury comprising:

  • Director of Design Museum Denmark Anne-Louise Sommer
  • Lifestyle Expert Uffe Buchard Stylist and Trend Expert Anette Eckmann
  • Jesper von Wieding from the Danish Design Association
  • Chief Editor of Bolig Magasinet Helle Blok
  • Chief Editor of BO BEDRE Erik Rimmer.

Design Awards 2014 is organised by interior and life style magazines BO BEDRE, Bolig Magasinet and Costume Living.
