Esteemed play researcher visits the school

Design School Kolding plays in the big leagues when Edith Ackermann from MIT visits the school on Monday 19 October

Edith Ackermann is one of the big international profiles when it comes to designing play and – just as Design School Kolding – she has close ties with LEGO. Indeed her visit is organised in collaboration with the LEGO Foundation.

Ackermann visits the school to share her vast knowledge and to inspire students, teachers and additional employees who work with design and play. It is a strategic focus area of the school in terms of teaching and research and organised in the school’s Lab for Design and Play, which is headed by Karen Feder.

The programme
Edith Ackermann will give a lecture to the school’s first-year MA students under the headline ”Designing for/with Children” in which she will zoom in on design methods and co-creation. The lecture is followed by a special Food Design event involving the 6C designprocess model: Collaborate, Collect, Comprehend, Conceptualise, Create, Communicate. The day ends with a knowledge-sharing session with Ackermann and the school staff focusing on user-involvement and collaboration with companies and organisations.

About Ackermann
 Edith K. Ackermann is a Honorary Professor of Developmental Psychology, at the University of Aix-Marseille 1, France. Currently a Visiting Scientist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, School of Architecture, and a Visiting Professor at the University of Siena, Department of Communication. She teaches graduate students, conducts research, and consults for companies, institutions, and organizations interested in the intersections between learning, teaching, design, and digital technologies.
