A new landing ground for helicopters on the roof of Kolding School of Design will strengthen international ties
By Charlotte Melin

Kolding School of Design is setting up a landing ground for helicopters. The purpose is to support the school’s many international activities. The ground on the roof of the building will primarily welcome travelers from Billund Airport.

- By setting up an air bridge between Kolding School of Design and Billund Airport we are able to ensure fast and effecient transport for our many international researchers and teachers, says Rector Elsebeth Gerner Nielsen.

Kolding School of Design has entered into agreement with the helicopter company Billund Air Organisation, who will be in charge of the transport to and from the airport in a Robertson Z27 helicopter. The landing ground opens 1 April 2016 and we expect it to be in full use in the beginning of 2017 where it will be used to transport the many guests that are expected to participate in the international Cumulus design conference hosted by Kolding School of Design.

An agreement with TV2 DANMARK and Kolding Hospital has secured the funding for the project. TV2 NEWS needs the landing ground to cover breaking news in Southern Denmark and to set up a link for live transmissions.

Kolding Hospital is busy building but needs to save money. Therefore they have agreed to use Kolding School of Design’s landing ground for transporting patients. However, Kolding School of Design will need to rebuild the school’s goods lift to make it safe for patients to be transported to and from the roof.

- I am very pleased that Kolding School of Design is able to set up this landing ground that will help local citizens to faster treatment and more local news, says Elsebeth Gerner Nielsen.
