Explore your inner designer at Design School Kolding’s Graduation Exhibition 2022 'You Are Here' at Museum Kolding
By Marianne Baggesen Hilger

A coffin of fungal spores. A playground which is also fun for adults. A jewellery collection that inspires calm and focus. The desire, play and courage to grapple with the present and possible futures is hard to miss among Design School Kolding's talented, newly trained designers.

And as suggested, the designers' graduation projects are diverse. From a proposal for how the dead can more quickly become part of the ecosystem, to play equipment without an age limit, to jewellery that calms people with ADHD without stigmatizing them.

In the graduation exhibition You Are Here, about 70 of Design School Kolding's BA and MA graduates invite us on their design journey; a journey that always starts with what we all see and which must be done better. This could be to design relationships, services, products, etc. to create a world that is more diverse, more sustainable, more inclusive, and more playful.

- Design and designers can lead the way and make a positive difference in a world that needs new ways of thinking, says Lene Tanggaard, Rector at Design School Kolding, and goes on:

- In completing their graduation projects and throughout their studies, all the designers have collaborated with private or public companies and with people outside the design profession to create solutions that make an actual difference and solve specific problems.

The graduation projects are exhibited at Museum Kolding in Staldgården's north wing. With its raw, authentic spaces this location shows clear traces of use through time and conveys an atmosphere of underground unfolded within the framework of history. This is completely in line with the vision that the Design School Kolding and Museum Kolding have in the joint partnership to try out completely new exhibition formats and ways of communicating design and local history.

- Kolding is a design city, and as a local museum, it is natural that we help to create a close connection between cultural history, crafts and design. The collaboration with Design School Kolding makes very good sense in every way, says Rune Lundberg, director at Museum Kolding.

The exhibition opens on 28 June at 15.30 at Museum Kolding, Staldgården 1, and closes 23 October 2022. Opening hours during the museum’s regular hours, every day from 10-17. Please visit museumkolding.dk for information about guided tours, etc.
