From professor to professor
6 years ago, Helle Marie Skovbjerg was employed at Design School Kolding as part of the school's overall focus on play and design. She became Denmark's first play professor (MSO) and is very important for the school's collaboration with the LEGO Foundation, which contributed DKK 25 million kroner for the establishment of the new Master's programme Design for Play.
The Master's programme was the first of its kind in the world, and has made it possible to establish a research unit in play and design with the employment of PhD students and associate professors. This has resulted in a number of research publications with a focus on play, learning and design – and since then students have passed their Master's degree with projects that connect play with their basic skills in fashion design, accessory design, textile design, communication design and industrial design.
Helle Marie Skovbjerg's research into design and play has now resulted in her upgrading her CV with a 'full-time' professorship. Congratulations!
