Significant fall in unemployment ratefor designers
The business community is finally welcoming designers. This is the conclusion of a recent statement by the Ministry of Higher Education and Science showing the unemployment rate for designers two years after their graduation.
Since 2014 there has been a significant fall in the unemployment rate for design graduates. In 2014 the unemployment rate for new designers was 70 % over that of the human sciences graduates. In 2017 and 2018 this number has dropped to just 20-30 %. Specifically the unemployment rate among design graduates was 26 % in 2017 and was 25 % in 2018. For Design School Kolding graduates the unemployment rate was as low as 21 % in 2018. This is a very positive development indeed for the design industry in general and for Design School Kolding, says Rector Lene Tanggaard
-The ability to collaborate, to show empathy when engaging with others and grow from diversity are some of the competences that our students acquire. The very competences, which have been identified as the gold of the future. I believe this is one of the reasons why our unemployment rate is the lowest it has been in many years. And I believe we can bring it down even further in the years ahead, she says.
