Play for the sake of play

Danish companies focus on childrens' play experiences when they design, states a new article
By Charlotte Melin

Danish companies consider play to be a natural element of human development, and children can only evovle into complete human beings if they are given the opportunity to play.

This is unique, says Karen Feder, who is head of Design School Kolding's LAB for Play & Design, in an article quoted by Design in Denmark from Danish's November newsletter.

A few years ago, Design School Kolding engaged in a research project with the LEGO Foundation and Capital of Children in Billund. The goal is to identify what charaterises the Danish approach to play.

In the article, Karen Feder explains how Danish companies distinguish themselves by focusing on the ability of products to create play experiences for children.
