Meet Marie Katrine

Make sure you can see yourself in the assignment that you have to complete. This is Marie Katrine Jensen’s tip for new applicants.

A year ago she applied to Design School Kolding for the Textile and Fashion programme and was accepted.

Here she tells about her way into Design School Kolding:

What made you want to study design?
I believe a design degree gives you a good foundation for being able to influence the world in a sustainable and – hopefully – positive direction. Moreover, I’ve always had a strong desire to create, experiment and improve which I’m allowed to every day at Design School Kolding.

What were your qualifications?
Before I was accepted at the school I spent two semesters at the Scandinavian Design College. This opened my eyes to the many aspects of the design profession and especially textile design.

What do you like most about Design School Kolding?
I chose Design School Kolding because it has a very hands-on approach to the design profession. Being allowed to experiment, play and explore is important to me and I enjoy being able to immerse myself in a certain type of material and having the time and the opportunity to get to know the material in-depth. The open and social environment in and around the school is also important to me.

What is your best tip for those who want to apply to Design School Kolding?
It’s hard to give tips in terms of the admission. However, I guess the most important thing is that you can see yourself in the assignment that you have to complete and that you give it your all.
