Background
Few types of furniture are as simple and familiar in form and function as a stool, and so that is the product Mads Lillelund Poulsen made the topic of his aesthetic research.
Aesthetic research
His four stools represent different aesthetic expressions, beginning with the harmonious and familiar and developing into the asymmetrical and ambiguous. Through this transformation he demonstrates how different expressions can interact and give rise to something that is aesthetically pleasing.
