Background
The project focuses on developing a mounting system for mycelium acoustic panels. Mycelium Composites are a lightweight, fire-resistant, insulating, and home-compostable material with good sound insulating properties.

Sustainable acoustic panels: Mounting Mycelium

In collaboration with Mycela, the goal is to bring mycelium composites closer to production. As awareness of industrial waste grows, biodegradable materials like mycelium are being explored to reduce environmental impact. The main challenge addressed is the difficulty of mounting mycelium panels due to their porous nature. However, the designer’s innovative approach results in a sustainable and effective acoustic solution as well as a design that enhances durability.
