Student project
Broken Heart Syndrome
Background
In an interdisciplinary project that connects clothing design and accessory design, the designers have created an artistic series that can be used as a tool to understand and process heartbreak and thereby promote mental health.
Broken Heart Syndrome
Created in collaboration with Irish linen producer John England, the project explores the five stages of heartbreak – denial, anger, negotiation, depression and acceptance – through five looks and woven artworks. The design uses data from surveys and colour psychology to understand the connection of emotions to colours, tactility, body positioning and associations. The goal is to create recognition and community, so that people can reflect on the challenging feelings and find comfort and understanding through art.
