Background
The project stems from an experience of missing tactile elements in modern architecture and therefore examines clay soil as a building material with a focus on surfaces and textures.

A materials study in sustainable construction

The designer has used the traditional technique of stamped clay to create reliefs through molding and modeling. Some of the reliefs have been given a surface treatment with linseed oil or self-made clay/lime paint. Local soil types and pigments highlight the natural colours of the clay soil. The goal is to inspire more tactile sensory impressions in the architecture of the future and increase awareness of healthy building materials as well as inspire new, sustainable building methods.
