Background
The designer has completed a book of her grandfather’s eight short stories, each paired with the designer’s illustrations. In a playful tone, the stories, set mostly in Iceland, explore themes of superstition and the afterlife.

Embracing uncertainty and superstition

To reflect Icelandic nature's duality of comfort and unease, the illustrations embrace controlled chaos, allowing viewers to find their own order. They evoke the atmosphere and symbols of the narratives, leaving room for interpretation and inspiring imagination. Inspired by antique books, some illustrations use lumen printing on expired photopaper, creating an enigmatic energy and a timeless appearance.
