People nowadays travel effortlessly between locations and cultures in order to work, study and network in a globalised world. Perhaps a little too effortlessly – because do we really know where ‘home’ is?
The Drinking Ritual – Our New Home?
With her ceramic drinking set, Nikoletta Afentouli forces us to gather around a ritual. The cup's round bottom makes it impossible to walk away and place the cup outside the context. Instead, the drinkers gather around the tray, which thus becomes the new base for socialising – the image of a ‘home’, though only for a brief while.
