‘Provincial’ is a term that rarely has any laudable connotations. This designer, however, deeply cherishes his upbringing in the provinces. Hence, through his collection of jewellery, he wants to tell the story of apple snatching, lowered cars, tractor pulls and farm shops. As a designer, he experiences a big gap between the high-cultural universe that dominates the design world and the popular culture of the provinces. His collection challenges the prevailing perception of high and low culture and equates the two phenomena based on his own view of the provinces.
