Background
Most people love a well-upholstered piece of furniture, but unfortunately comfort comes at a price, because much upholstered furniture is produced with furniture foam that ends up in the incinerator when the owner gets tired of the furniture.
Traditional. Modern. Comfortable.
This designer utilizes traditional techniques and materials, such as flag line and kapok wool in her exploration of how to create a comfortable seating unit that is sustainable, minimalist and traditional in its construction, but modern in its expression. The project challenges the throw-away culture, as well as our expectation of what a comfortable piece of furniture may look like.
