Background
There is a declining interest in using sheep’s wool, which is why it is important to find new ways of using the material. Marianne Noer wants to show the potential of the material, recreate our connection to it, explore our history with wool and put it into a contemporary context.
Where are all the Sheep
WHAT? A collection of rope spun from sheep’s wool that has been used as a material for a rug among other things.
HOW? In collaboration with Lystbækgaard in Ulfborg, designer Marianne Noer has studied the properties and the historical use of the wool from Norwegian spælsau sheep. Together with rope maker, Steen Franch, she has revived an old tradition of making rope from sheep’s wool.
WHY? There is a declining interest in using sheep’s wool, which is why it is important to find new ways of using the material. Marianne Noer wants to show the potential of the material, recreate our connection to it, explore our history with wool and put it into a contemporary context.
