Meet Design for People alumnus Marie Kremer
Where do you work at the moment? What is your role and what are your tasks?
I work at Design School Kolding as a Research Assistant. I work mostly on a project in cancer research called 4D Picture, which is about improving the cancer patient journey and ensuring personal preferences are respected. I also do some teaching on the Design for People Master’s programme.
What role has the Design for People Master’s programme played in getting you where you are today?
For me it made me realize that I want to work with designing in healthcare and using Social Design in a context that improves healthcare experiences. During the course of the programme I got to try out different projects and make use of the Lab for Social Design’s network to work with different healthcare institutions. So, finding my focus areas and being able to build the skills needed, which is really helpful in my current project.
What is an important memory from Design School Kolding?
I did my Master during Covid, and the restrictions were lifted the day of my final thesis exam, which meant that my friends were allowed to join. Having them there as support and to celebrate after was super special.
Do you have any advice to give to someone undertaking this educational path?
Experiment! I feel like the Design for People Master’s programme is a great way to try out new methods and fields that you have been interested in but maybe don’t know how to enter. There is such a talented mix of designers in each year to learn from, so work together and try new things!
