Kick-off Master's Project

Off to a flying start! Our second-year Master’s students started their Master’s projects last week with a seminar. This will be their last project before they graduate from Design School Kolding, and it will consist of a design, a written assignment, and an oral exam.

In the Master’s project, the student is able to put their entire professional expertise in play. Knowledge, skills, and competencies acquired through the specialization are demonstrated in the solution of a self-initiated, well-defined and delimited design-professional problem in collaboration with one or more external partners.

The Master’s project is the student’s framework to demonstrate their own design-professional potential in a relevant design project.

Industrial design student Lotte Rahbek, focusing on Design for Play, gives us insight into her project: “For my exam project, I will be tasked with designing a new solution for the user test setup at the LEGO Group®️. Utilizing Designerly methods such as Design Thinking and Empowering Changes, I aim to optimize the current test setup for various aspects like concepts, products, and experiences. Throughout the project, I'll consider how the recommended solution can be scaled sustainably within the company. I'll challenge the existing structure to explore new possibilities within the testing setup and demonstrate the application of a Play Designer's expertise in novel areas of the value chain.”

We wish our master’s students the best of luck and most of all a lot of fun the coming half year!
